PAX NICHOLAS AND THE RIDIMTAKSI is a band of 12 skilled musicians from Africa, Latin America & Berlin who share the love for heavy and funky music. Lead by experienced showman, singer and percussionist Pax Nicholas from Ghana they are out there to make you happy with hard-hittin' AFROBEAT and a heavy dose of SOUL. In 2010, they left an impressed audience when they opened the show for Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings at Huxley´s, Berlin. Be it original Fela Kuti songs or Pax´ own Soul, Funk and Highlife influenced compositions, be it classic or modern: when the Ridimtaksi is on the move you better be ready, these guys will make you move your feet and shake your hips

Afrobeat, Afro-Soul und Afro-Funk
Pax Nicholas and the Ridimtaksi ist eine 11-köpfige Band aus Berlin, die unter dem erfahrenen Bandleader und Showman Pax Nicholas (aka Nicholas Addo-Nettey) aus Ghana klassischen und modernen Afrobeat mit einer gehörigen Portion Soul und Funk zum Besten gibt. Das Zusammentreffen professioneller Musiker aus Berlin und Westafrika in diesem Projekt garantiert mitreißende Grooves und eine perfekte Show. Ridimtaksi ist in dieser Formation seit 2008 aktiv und spielte in den letzten Jahren unter anderem in den Berliner Locations Pfefferberg, Acud, Bar 1000 und im Oktober 2010 als Vorband von Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings (Daptone) im Huxley´s. Das Repertoire besteht aus eigenen Kompositionen von Nicholas Addo-Nettey und Highlights aus dem Programm von Fela Kutis Afrika 70.
Addo-Nettey begann seine musikalische Karriere als Soul-Sänger in Ghana. Er war zwischen 1971 und 1978 als Percussionist und Backgroundsänger von Fela Kutis legendärer Band „Afrika 70“ an der Entstehung des Afrobeat in Nigeria beteiligt. Er bildete zusammen mit Tony Allen und einigen anderen Percussionisten das rhythmische Fundament der Combo und stellt mittlerweile, als einer der wenigen noch musikalisch aktiven Mitglieder von „Afrika 70“, einen der wichtigsten und authentischsten Vertreter dieser Musikrichtung weltweit dar. Seit 1978 lebt Pax in Berlin und hat sich seitdem mit verschieden Projekten und Percussion-Workshops einen Namen in der afrikanischen Musikszene gemacht. Im Jahr 2009 verhalf ihm die Wiederveröffentlichung seines Solo-Albums „Na Teef Know De Road Of Teef“ (1973) bei dem führenden Funk´n´Soul-Label Daptone Records aus New York zu internationaler Aufmerksamkeit.
